This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, device identifiers) are used on www.spaceatlas.cloud, what each category does, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. It lets the site remember something between pages or between visits — for example that you dismissed a notice, or which pages were read. Some cookies are set by the site you are visiting (“first-party”); others are set by a third party whose content is embedded in the page (“third-party”).
2. Categories we use
| Category | What it does | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Delivers the page, keeps the site secure, balances traffic, and remembers a consent choice. | Always active — the site cannot work without them. |
| Preferences | Remembers interface choices such as a unit setting or a collapsed panel. | Optional. |
| Analytics | Counts visits and shows which calculators and guides are used, in aggregate. Used to decide what to fix or expand. | Optional. |
| Advertising | Allows advertising partners to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure whether an ad was seen. May involve personalised advertising. | Optional; where required by law, asked before any advertising cookie is set. |
3. Advertising cookies and third-party vendors
- Advertising on this site is served through third-party vendors, including Google. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may place and read their own cookies, and may use a device identifier or a non-personalised identifier where personalised advertising is not permitted.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and from participating vendors at aboutads.info and Your Online Choices (EEA/UK).
- If you are in a region where consent is required for advertising or analytics cookies, those cookies are withheld until you consent. You can change that choice at any time.
4. Controlling cookies
- Browser controls. All major browsers let you block or delete cookies and set per-site rules. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site.
- Private browsing. A private or incognito window discards cookies when it closes.
- Advertising controls. See the opt-out links in section 3.
- Device-level controls. Mobile operating systems provide “limit ad tracking” or “allow apps to request to track” settings that affect advertising identifiers.
5. Retention
Session cookies expire when the browser closes. Persistent cookies are kept for the period set by the party that created them, which for advertising and analytics cookies is typically between a few days and two years. A consent choice is remembered for as long as the law in your region requires it to be.
6. Your rights
Where the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA applies to you, you have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection in relation to personal data processed through cookies, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Our Privacy Policy sets out how to exercise them and how to contact us.
7. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. See the children’s section of our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top changes. Material changes — a new category of cookie, or a new class of recipient — are described in the update note.
9. Contact
Questions about cookies or about this policy: [email protected], or use our contact page.
